Sci-Con Travel Bags - More Than 25 Years of Experience in the Technical Bags Business
Sci-Con may sound like the name of a big science convention, and chances are it is consistently mispronounced here in the Americas, but what Sci-Con means to us is secure transport.
Sci-Con is based in Romano d'Ezzelino, at the feet of Grappa Mountain just outside Vicenza - Veneto Italy; which explains why they were in need of bags to transport their bikes when they were tired of riding up the same mountain all the time. Actually, Sci-Con was forged in 1980 from an idea and a passion for cycling as a lifestyle. It was Mr. Luciano Fantin who put in the blood, sweat and tears to turn this vision into a reality.
That factory in the mountains is more than just a simple factory. It is a factory born from imagination, nourished with the beauty of Italian design, enhanced by quality and will continue to build with the innovation and ingenuity. Still run by the Fantin family, Sci-Con is going strong bringing the world Transportation Bags, Saddlebags, Sports Bags and all the great accessories that go with those bags.
From the beginning, Sci-Con focused much of their attention on creating solutions for travelers. We travel with our bikes, you travel with your bike. The problem with traveling with your bike is the damage that can occur if it isn't well protected. The last thing you want is to arrive the day before the race and find your handlebars or your wheels bent. That happens all too frequently.
Fortunately, we weary travelers have companies like Sci-Con doing constant research and development to bring us sturdy bags to transport our beloved bikes. Their research and development team benefits from the experience and the technical advice of professional rider's across the world. They know what athletes need and keep an open dialogue with many professional cyclist to make sure they can predict any future requirements these champions (and us hacks) need.
When it comes to travel bags, you can't rely on some anonymous bag manufacturer. You need a company with reliability and strength in the market. You need a bag that has science behind it, or all you will have are bent wheels and frustration. Sci-Con has supplied sports bags, bike bags and saddle bags to over 200 teams of world class professional cyclists so you know that they are reliable and will be around for a very long time.
That's right, Sci-Con services professional cycling teams like Liquigas-Cannondale, Barloworld & Navigators. For almost 30 years Sci-Con has supplied over 150 Cycling teams with the finest in technical bags. Amongst those teams there have been fifteen Tour de France winners, five world championships, five Giro d' Italian wins and dozens of "Classics". Not to mention, the Sci-Con Aero Comfort Plus Cycling Bag is the official bike bag of the Italian Cycling Federation. So, if you needed an endorsement from those that know, don't take our word for it, take it from the ICF, or even the United States Postal Service. Not only have Sci-Con bags been tested and endorsed by some of the greatest cycling teams in the world, they are also being used by the United States Postal Service. We're not sure for what, but the United States Postal Service is one of their biggest clients. And since Sci-Con boasts "the largest and most complete range of cycling bags and accessories to satisfy all the requirements of its customers", we're sure whatever the United States Postal Service is using, is reliable and exactly what they need.
Dynamic, flexible and innovative, that's their bag, baby!

Trek Project One worth it?
I am looking to get a new bike and am really interested in the Trek Project One bikes ( Madone 6.9) . I love the idea of totally customizing a bike. I currently ride a Cannondale Six13 Team Dura Ace 7800 . I love it, it is a great ride, but I am itching for a new bike. I have about $8000 to spend. I know a lot of people who ride Treks, but I have been pretty unimpressed. (Except for the few project one bikes I have seen.)
My Cannondale dealer offered me a great deal on an upgrade trade in for my frame and could put me into a SuperSix or something complete with Dura Ace 7900 or SRAM Red and some nice Zipp wheels for under $5000 out of pocket .
I just don't know. I am very comfortable in Cannondale's customer service and crash replacement /frame upgrade program.
I need some input on Trek. Is it worth it to get a Project One? I welcome all serious comments /suggestions. I want my next bike to be "the bike".
Which SuperSix frame are they offering you? Cannondale makes the frame in regular carbon and in high-modulus carbon. Also what year is the frame. 2010 frames are supposedly stiffer than the the 2009 and before frames. I would personally prefer a well equipped 2010 HiMod SuperSix to a Madone 6.9. I also like the zipp carbon wheels instead of the Bontrager wheels.
A lot depends on your riding style and your preferences. You should try to test ride both before spending all that money.
Also if you want it to be "the bike" try and wait for Cervelo's Project Califronia.
