Is this legal??

I live in New Jersey and i want to know if it is street legal to buy a bicycle motor kit off ebay or something and put it on a bike because i have a schwinn stingray that i never use and this would make a use out of it and I was going to either buy a motor kit or rockband with my saved up money but if it is not street legal ill buy rockband. thanks!

Ebikes are apparently considered Mopeds in NJ.

Lots of restrictions; age, licenses, registration etc.

You may get away with it if you are stealth, and some do. but your state is still in the dark ages as far as low power motor assist on bicycles.
