Bicycle steering feels loose?

I have a Bike E with the small tire in the front. When I ride it, the steering feels loose and I am constantly having to correct to keep the bike going straight. Sometimes I almost go out of control if I am going down hill fast or when I first get started. My mechanic says there is nothing wrong with it, but when I had another kind of bike and it did this, I thought my mechanic said the headset was loose and he tightended it. This seemed to help a lot.

Any ideas?

Without knowing what sort of Headset you have, I can't give you instructions for tightening it up.

It may be that your wheel is loose? Grab hold of your front wheel and handlebar and wiggle them about a bit to see if there is any play! Then Grab the front wheel and move it backwards and forwards to see if there is any movement!

Failing that, it could be that your forks are twisted and giving the feeling of instability !! If you're still unhappy with it, take it back to your mechanic and let them know your concerns!

Good heavens - I've just found out what a BikeE is . .!!!!

It does indeed have a small front wheel, I would be a little wary of fast downhills too! ! - I can't comment any further than I already have! - for the simple reason that recumbents are not really within my sphere of knowledge! (at least I'm honest!)
