Commonwealth Games 2010: A Hope To Uplift Ethical Sports Standards

Multi-sport events are essentially social in nature, as they facilitate the gathering of people at various levels from across the globe. The make people cross cultural barriers and speak a language that is understood by all. Such a wonderful initiative is taken by Commonwealth Gamed Federation (CGF), and Delhi – the capital city of India – is all set to host the Commonwealth Games 2010 in the month of October.

This 12-day event will include championships in 17 different sports like Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Hockey, Rugby sevens, Table Tennis, Wrestling etc. The best part with this biggest multi-sport event in India is that over 2 million foreign tourists and 3.5 million domestic tourists would be arriving in Delhi during the games, which will surely uplift Indian tourism industry.

Delhi and all the nearby cities are undergoing a complete makeover for this 19th edition of the Commonwealth Games. Media's extensive coverage for these events would make it a mega event. Sportspersons & games officials would be treated like celebrities. No doubt, professional sport has become a battle now-a-days. But such multi-sport events showcase a true nationalism factor.

Commonwealth Games 2010 can definitely help in uplifting the ethical standards in sports that have fallen drastically in modern times. Issues of bribe, cheats, doping and violence would be taken seriously. Special arrangements for accommodation, transportation, security, electricity and hospitality are being made for athletes and all the games officials.
