And there are around 100 workers who build Bottecchia bikes between 1930 and 1940. At the end of the sixties, the old Teodoro passes on the baton to his sons Guido and Mario. In 1973, the world’s first folding bike was produced and it was very successful in Europe. Yet in 1997, Bottecchia was acquired by the Turato family who has had two generations of history in bike manufacture – the Cicli Esperia. In 2006, the group sells over 50,000 bikes throughout Europe and looks to expand outside of Europe considering the US, Asia and the Pacific. If truth be told, there are already over 50,000 bikes that were sold in Europe at that point. It was also, in 2006 when the cycles assign exclusive distributors in Australia and New Zealand. Today, the company produces around 70 models in order to meet every kind of demand, and its earnings increases year by year.
