Brooke Smith Joins the Cast of Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy began ended its previous season short of two attending physicians, as Kate Walsh and Isaiah Washington left the highly watched series for good. However, this season begins with fresh new recruits Brooke Smith, who plays Dr. Erica Hahn, who will be replacing Dr. Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) as the head of the cardiothoracic surgery department. Dr. Hahn is Burke's former medical school rival and no-nonsense surgeon from Mercy West who was responsible for the heart surgery of Denny Duquette.

Brooke Smith had recently deposited money for the schooling of her daughter and completed renovating her apartment in New York when she was cast for a regular on Grey's Anatomy, forcing her to move back to Los Angeles for a while.

The 40-year-old actress admits to being excited about her new gig on the show, as she is to play a doctor whom she describes as workaholic and very professional. "And when other people do things that aren't professional she gets a little upset," she adds.

However, when asked if her character will be part of a love team on the show, she said, "There might be a certain man there who's interested in me."

The actress also addressed the rumors about her character becoming romantically involved with Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh). Smith said, "Secretly, we pushed for that. You know, Sandra and I played lovers in [the off-Broadway play] Stop Kiss."

However, she did not confirm if Dr. Hahn or Dr. Yang would be coming out as a lesbian soon. She did reveal though, that Dr. Hahn would make an awesome lesbian.

Aside from her new work on Grey's Anatomy, Brooke Smith is also known for her recurring role on Weeds, where she plays Valerie Scottson, the former wife of Nancy Botwin's (Mary Louise Parker) ex-boyfriend, Peter Scottson (Martin Donovan). She has also appeared on Crossing Jordan as Dr. Kate Switzer.

Is it tacky to wear a grey shirt with white shorts?

no, not at all.. but also not right now.. you shouldn't wear white bottoms after labor day, only creams...early march it's okay.
