Can the rotation of Milky way be compared to the rotation of a bicycle wheel?

In a bicycle wheel angular velocity is same for every point be on spoke or on the rim. Is it true for the stars in the milky way? Are all stars having same angular velocity?

The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy. If it were rotating at a speed not uniform throughout, say faster at the center and slower at the edges do you know what will happen? We will be stuck with a tightly wounded spiral. However, we are stuck with a barred spiral. That is where the problem starts. To be able to achieve this and to answer the question - the Milky Way has roughly the same angular velocity all throughout. Remember there are exceptions and that the Milky Way is not a solid object like what a bicycle wheel is. It has no uniform mass distributions and stars can either be sped up or slowed down as they traverse the arms. This certainly true for the sun which had been passed around by the arms. However, averaging the speed we will still arrive at the same angular velocity. The same angular velocity is roughly the same for most disk stars. That is including the Sun, the stars in the spiral arms and all stars in between. That is why the Milky Way is called to complete one rotation per 220-250 million years. Now let's go the stars of the galactic bulge and the halo. They travel in random motion which is not always aligned with the plane of the Milky Way. Barnard star should be a good example. Their speed across their orbit may be said to be faster. The last to consider are stars within the general vicinity of Sagittarius A*, which is our galactic core's center. The stars up to within a hundred light-years of this object travel at a staggering speed! Of course it is because of the local gravitational influence of the supermassive black hole which is 4.1 million solar masses. The neasrest star to Sagittarius A* is S2 which at the nearest distance to the mnster travels at 5000km/sec!
