Why do shirts look all faded and old and crumpled after just washing a few times?

Hi the T shirts in singapore are not exactly cheap. They're about S$30 for decent wearable ones.

But after a few cycles in the washing machine, maybe two or three months down the road, they look so faded and unlively that I don't feel like wearing them or feel like buying new ones.

Am I washing them wrong? Or am I buying the wrong T shirts? it's normally the ones that say 100% cotton that seem to spoil. They dry fit/polyester mixtures all still look like new... like spandex stuff like swimming stuff and sportwear does.

And for those that say wash separately, they don't specify how to wash them. Do we still use standard detergent with them separately?

Use a good liquid detergent
Wash in cold water/Tide makes a cold water formula
Hand dry when you can/dryers are hard on clothes
(use the new wrinkle spray if needed)
Dry on the delicate cycle.
Turn clothing inside out when using the dryer
Use vinegar in the wash cycle
Wash all dark clothes together.
Fabric softener sheets work by coating the fibers with a thin layer of soap. That soap will discolor dark fabrics.
